We will start in Hampden and finish in Annapolis, visiting Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Montgomery County, and Prince George County -- all without leaving District Three.

facebook post broadcastLWV Baltimore County posted on LWV Baltimore County's Facebook page 2014-05-07 09:52:01 -0400It’s been fifty years since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law, but the right to vote is once again threatened by discriminatory laws that disenfranchise women and minority communities. In the months since the US Supreme Court struck down key provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in its Shelby County v. Holder decision, a bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress that would reinstate federal voter protections and modernize the ways in which access to the ballot box is preserved across the country. Join a special NCJW call on Wednesday, May 28 from 2pm-3pm ET to hear the latest developments on voting rights and why it’s so important that Congress acts now, by passing common-sense voter protections that upholds the promise of our democracy. We’ll hear remarks from NCJW President Debbie Hoffman as well as Julie Fernandes, senior policy analyst at the Open Society Policy Center. Register today for NCJW’s Distance Learning call, “The Right to Vote, the Power to Decide” on May 28 at 2pm eastern time. Join us on May 28 and learn more about how you can be a powerful advocate for social change. http://action.ncjw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Distance_Learning_RSVP&autologin=true

(The three candidates have also agreed to one radio debate on WOLB-AM with Larry Young, a former state senator. But no date has been set.)"

facebook post broadcastLWV Baltimore County posted on LWV Baltimore County's Facebook page 2014-05-05 06:30:00 -0400Voters throughout Maryland now have access to information on all candidates in the June 2014 Primary through VOTE411.org, sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Enter your home address to gather information on the candidates who are running on your own ballot. Information was gathered from a series of questions posed by the League of Women Voters. For those voters who want additional information about the candidates, VOTE411 includes links to websites, Facebook pages, and campaign email addresses when those were provided by the candidates. The program also includes an option for voters to mark the candidates whose responses they prefer and, at the end of the process, print out a list of their selections that they can take to their polling place. www.vote411.org

facebook post broadcastLeague of Women Voters MD posted on League of Women Voters MD's Facebook page 2014-05-02 11:46:36 -0400Voters throughout Maryland now have access to information on all candidates in the June 2014 primary through an online service, VOTE411.org, sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Effective May 5, 2014, when the site goes live, voters can enter their home address to access information on the candidates who will appear on their ballot, specifically, candidates’ answers to a series of questions posed by the League of Women Voters. This web-based service is similar to the Voters’ Guide that is published by the League in many counties throughout Maryland. VOTE411.org, however, covers all counties in the state, including those counties that do not yet have a local League unit organized. The Voters’ Guide and VOTE411.org differ from most other organizations’ guides because the League does not endorse candidates, but publishes responses exactly as entered by the candidates. Although questions were sent to candidates by email, many volunteer hours were required to create the online database, entering descriptions of each office on the ballot, crafting questions for the candidates, and then telephoning candidates to ensure that every candidate received the questions and was encouraged to respond. Many local Leagues will also be printing Voters' Guides for distribution through their respective counties and will post pdf versions on their websites. Voters may take these materials to the polling place to assist them in casting their ballots.
