While we can’t be all together sitting around a table we can be together in a breakout room or what we have decided to call our Sharing Studios. We ask that you please pick ONE from the list below. This pick will be your FIRST studio of the morning. If you have not done so already we kindly ask you to email [email protected] your first sharing studio pick.

Your choices are:

Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members: Learn what each member of your Board does and represents not just to membership, but the public at large. Have questions about which role should do which job? This is your Studio!

Membership: Join a roundtable discussion to explore tips and tricks for building a stronger League capacity throughout Maryland. The League’s strength and vitality begins at the grassroots. Members have been the lifeblood of the League dating back more than 100 years. So, while much has changed over time, the importance of member recruitment, engagement, and retention has not.

Finance: What is the role of the League treasurer? Niecy will review key responsibilities, including annual federal and state filings, financial record keeping and PMP. Bring your questions!

Fundraising: Fundraising is critical, but always seems like a hard task to do. We will discuss what motivates people to contribute to a cause and share examples of fundraising strategies that have worked for Local Leagues, including how to build fundraising into routine communications and activities. We will also note resources available through LWVUS to help your fundraising efforts succeed.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Reflections from Our First Year; forming a group, what DEI means, combatting prejudices, defining equity, and all your questions!

GOTV and Voter Services: Learn about best practices in voter registration, GOTV activities, Voter Guide production, and so much more!

Youth Engagement: Find out what local Leagues and LWVMD is doing around the state to engage high school, community college, and university students. Learn about funding opportunities and brainstorm new ways to build exciting programs!

Please remember that you will have the option of taking your selected Studio again or switching to another Studio for the second breakout.

The last breakout will be Best Practices with League Leaders. There are three options. You will be able to select which one you would like to take and move yourself there. These are only being offered once.

The choices are:

Improving Internal Communications: A four person panel from different Local Leagues with tips on how to improve newsletter content, communication strategies to better understand and connect with members, and a Q & A!

Virtual and In-Person Candidate Forums: This workshop will cover basic LWV Debate Policies and Procedures with tips hosting a successful event, whether it’s in-person or online. Learn about debate policies and goals, candidate selection, working with the media, and many more resources.

League 101: A Brief Orientation for New Members: Learn about the history of the League, how we operate, how we form our positions, and get answers to all your questions of the ins and outs of the League of Women Voters Maryland.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your State Director Nikki Tyree at [email protected].
