different kinds of districts:

 State Legislative
DistrictsThe
three State Legislative Districts (29A, 29B, 29C) are used to
elect representatives to the Maryland State Legislature. These
three districts are combined to make the state senatorial
district 29.
St. Mary's is also part of US Congressional District 5.

Voting Districts The nine Voting Districts are sometimes used to describe where people live, and they're used on election days to assign people to their polling place.
Voting Districts are often split into precincts. Each precinct is assigned a
polling place,
usually a school, church hall, or firehouse.
