Welcome to the Queen Anne’s County League of Women Voters’ web site!  Ours is a young and energetic League organized in early 2003.  We were brought together by the realization during the 2002 elections that our county was in need of voter services, particularly candidate and issue forums and voters’ guides.  We were encouraged and nurtured by our sister Kent County LWV, with whom we now share a number of activities. The LWVQAC has grown to over 60 members, a fifth of whom are men.

Voters’ services remain our primary occupation.  Beside voter registration drives and voting machines demonstrations, we have sponsored or co-sponsored candidate forums for the House of Representatives, the state legislature, and our county commissioners, as well as for the town councils of several of our municipalities. This year, in addition to candidate forums, we will sponsor a candidate fair for all local candidates appearing on the ballot.  Twice a year we co-sponsor with the Kent County League a “Report to the People”   first a preview and then a review of the Maryland General Assembly by our elected representatives.  Our issue forums included hurricane preparedness, foreign policy, affordable housing, land and water resource management, and children’s services.  Besides the Voters’ Guide for the primary and general elections, the LWVQAC publishes an annual Guide to Your Elected Officials.

We are pleased with how well our League and its services have been received in our county, and we look forward to continuing to fulfill our mission of encouraging the informed participation of citizens in their government. We encourage you to join us.
