ABSENTEE BALLOT
Apply in writing for an absentee ballot if you “will be absent or unable to vote in person in the election.” Applications are available:
by telephone (240-777-8550),
by written request (P.O. Box 10159, Rockville MD 20849-0159),
in person at the Board of Elections (751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville) or
on the Board of Elections web page at www.777vote.org.
Return completed application form by October 28 to the Board of Elections:
by 4:30 pm by mail or in person or
before midnight if by FAX (240-777-8560).
Absentee ballots are usually mailed approximately three weeks before an election.
Return completed absentee ballots:
by mail, postmarked no later than Election Day, Nov. 4 or
in person at the Board of Elections by 8 pm on Election Day.
If the need arises from October 29 through Election Day, request an emergency absentee ballot. Apply in person at the Board of Elections:
complete Late Application for Absentee Ballot (available at www.777vote.org),
receive an absentee ballot and
vote on the spot or return to the Board yourself by 8 pm on Election Day.
If unable to complete this process in person (e.g. hospitalization)
complete Designation of Agent section on the Late Application,
your agent obtains absentee ballot from Board of Elections on your behalf,
your agent brings it to you to vote and returns it prior to 8 pm on Election Day.
