Testimony to the Montgomery County Planning Board
Petition of the Phyllis Jones Property
July 24, 2008
The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County supports a policy that considers preservation of farmland to be a primary design consideration for development in the Rural Density Transfer zone. One component of such a policy is restricting the use of sand mound technology in agricultural zones.
The development proposed in case #720070300 relies upon sand mound sewerage disposal located in the area of the property with the best soil. Furthermore, the site selection negatively affects the continuation of productive agricultural activity in the surrounding land.
For these reasons, we urge the planning board to deny this petition.
