LEAGUE SERVICES

Community Services

LWVMC maintains a Speakers Bureau to make presentations to community organizations on topics that we have studied, e.g.

Fact sheets are developed by LWV committees who study each issue before the subject is presented at monthly League meetings. These 8-page informational documents are available to the public for a business size self addressed envelope with two stamps. Topics as above and others.

Members are available to work with Scout groups on citizenship and government badges and with elementary school classes on Maryland government. Prior to most general elections, LWVMC will give briefings on the meaning of the wording of ballot questions and the pros and cons of the measures.

Several members are skilled moderators who will lead community meetings, forums and debates. Honoraria are usually donated to LWV or LWV/CEF.

Management of elections for condominiums, organizations, homeowner associations, unions, and others is a service of the League--for reasonable fees. We can provide the amount of service that the client needs from simple ballot counts through oversight of the process beginning to end. Our services have proven especially valuable when high levels of controversy exist because all sides respect the League.

Organizations who host foreign visitors often ask the League to speak about our organization and how volunteer organizations can support the democratic process.

The CITIZEN EDUCATION FUND is a separate organization of the League of Women Voters under which we conduct our voter and community services. Contributions to LWV/CEF are tax deductible.
