Montgomery/Montgomery County Interbranch.
After opening statements there will be a Question and Answer
period.
This will be one of the League's Brown Bags, so bring your "brown bag"
and we'll provide the dessert and coffee/tea.
Candidates for U.S. Congressional District 8,
The Candidates Forum for the 8th Congressional District was held on October 2
at the Rockville Library and co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library/Rockville.
More than 100 people saw a lively debate among the four candidates, Gordon Clark,
Steve Hudson, Deborah Vollmer and Lih Young, and the Legislative Director for
Chris Van Hollen, Bill Parsons. Topics debated included: climate change,
energy independence, health insurance, the financial bailout, education and
personal social justice experiences. The Chesapeake Climate Action Network
streamed the forum to its members. The League received many kudos for holding
the forum in such a non-partisan way so that all candidates could speak
freely and the public learned much about them.
