VOTER INFORMATION

Kent and Queen Anne's Counties and various districts in Cecil, Caroline and Talbot Counties make up Legislative District 36. Your voter registration card which you receive through the mail determines your polling place. Once you are registered, you may vote in your resident municipality as well as in local, state, and federal elections.

You are eligible to vote if you...

  • are a U.S. citizen, are at least 18 years of age or will be at the time of the next general election
  • are a legal resident of Maryland
  • have not been convicted (without parden), more than once of an infamous crime
  • are not under sentence or on probation or parole following conviction for an infamous crime
  • are not under guardianship for mental disability
  • are registered to vote

A Voter Registration Card is mailed to you and determines your polling place. Once you are registered, you may vote in your resident municipality and local, state and federal elections.

Call your Supervisor of Elections for information on deadlines and for information on filing requirements if you wish to run for elected office.

ABSENTEE BALLOT

A qualified voter who cannot get to his or her polling place in person on Election Day because of absence from home, illness or disability, confinement in or restrictions to an institution, or who resides outside the U.S. must apply for the ballot application.

When your signed application is processed and you are found qualified, the ballot will be mailed to you. Instructions for completing and returning the ballot will be included.
