Page Philosophy:  The League is about information, education, and activism.  The Internet is a tool to facilitate communication.  Having access to the Internet can be empowering. Not having access to the Internet is certainly disenfranchising.

KENT.LWVMD.ORG TAKES A GIANT STEP FORWARD

Last Updated: 9/10/2007

My last post to Our Cyber Digs was on 7/12/2007 and can be found in the Our Cyber Digs archive.   In that post I showcased our new Immigration Study Web Site as an example of how we can use the Web in aiding us in a study.  I also invited everyone to explore using lwvmd.org.

Ten things to do to work smarter not harder for the League.

1)     We have posted our brochure, Your Elected Officials, on-line.   Please, feel free to print out copies for your personal use and send the link to anyone.  The brochure will be updated as needed and hard copies will be printed as needed for distribution around the County.  All questions and requests should be directed to info@kent.lwvmd.org.   This is a big step for us.  Our Elected Officials and government offices are encouraged to contact us with changes that need to be made (however we are confident of its accuracy for now).

2)     Rosemary has posted her first President’s message.

3)     The August Newsletter is available.

4)     Nancy Smith is our new Membership Chair.  She is determined to make sure that LWVKC, LWVMD, and LWVUS membership data all agree.  She is off to a good start.  It is planned to develop a system that will make our membership record keeping seamless and easily maintained.

5)     You can help us with our efforts by making sure that your information is up to date.

a)     Make sure that you are registered with the LWVUS here.  Once you are registered, and especially if you change your profile, please inform web@kent.lwvmd.org, so that we can directly track changes.

b)     We will soon have our members and board listserves re-established.  In the meantime Rosemary and Jane will be keeping you informed the old fashioned way.

6)     Please, check out the League of Women Voters US web site -- http://www.lwv.org/ and the LWVUS Website Reference Guide Web Reference Guide (PDF File).

7)     Explore www.lwvmd.org.  There is a FAQ and Janeen’s and Liz’s How it Works and How to Work It presented at the State convention.

8)     Need more help to get on-line?  Check out this site for general computing help:  HELP!

9)     Need help using MS Office?  Meet  The Crabby Office Lady

10) get the scoop on using MSOFFICE for non-profits  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012045831033.aspx?pid=CH010963501033
