The League of Women Voters of Howard County supports Bill 60-2007, which requires certain soil and water testing for the commercial or residential redevelopment of any golf course in Howard County. This legislation establishes a new section to the General Standards and Requirements of Howard County Subdivision and Land Development Regulations, Section 16.129, titled Golf Course Redevelopment.

We base our support on the National League position on Land Use to review environmental, social and economic impacts of public and private developments.

We thank the County Executive, the County Health Officer and Councilperson Terrasa for introducing Bill 60. We ask the County Council to favorably adopt.
