As a benefit of your membership in the League of Women Voters, LWVUS is extending an invitation to an interesting day of conversation with leading national thinkers on the subject of the polarization of American politics. This event, entitled “An Era of Polarized Politics – and Does It Matter? Discussions Around the Red-Blue Divide” will take place from 9 a.m. -3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 at the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, DC. There is no charge for attending but seating is limited and available on a first come first serve basis, so please RSVP as soon as possible, but no later than November 20 to Julianne Miner at JMinar@lwv.org. Presenting their thoughts at the conference will be prominent national speakers such as Marvin Kalb, former CBS reporter currently with the Shorenstein Center at Harvard University; William Galston, former advisor to President Clinton and currently with the Brookings Institution; Pietro Nivola, editor of Red and Blue Nation, and Peter Harkness, editor of Governing Magazine. The event is being co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the United States and Elderhostel as the national start of conversations that will be co-sponsored by both organizations during 2008 in various cities around the country. Mary G. Wilson, president LWVUS
